Review

AdvancedMD is moving quickly to get ahead of the curve where ICD-10 is concerned (definition:ICD-10 is the 10th revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD), a medical classification list by the World Health Organization(WHO). It codes for diseases, signs and symptoms, abnormal findings, complaints, social circumstances, and external causes of injury or diseases.)

This software is built to meet the needs of single office to smaller hospital needs so when looking at this, think cost and support.  What helps is that the solution is a SaaS model.

Looking into this product professional staff and clinician alike will need to be technology savvy and have the knowledge to interact with a multilayer system.  Retrieval is easy and demonstrates a professional appearance for billing, prescription writing and is geared toward the next medical coding level out in 2014.

Access to SOP, case history and today’s complaint pages are multilayered.  Besides needing to be technologically aware there is also a concern for internet access by unauthorized persons.  The system is built on a paperless system and thus clinicians and ancillary staff may log-in to the system from any computer or tablet.  Bring the security aspect back to the medical manager (clinician, hospital, nurse, lab and so on).

User Experience

AdvancedMD does not have the best user experience from a UX perspective.  I would say it looks a little dated and could use a dose of simplicity.

Bottom Line

Good functionality set, could be better UX but their focus on meeting emerging needs of the HIT EMR market coupled with capacity to support a robust roadmap makes them a contender.
